Deconstructed Bouquet.

I've been a little down so my husband got me a couple of bouquets of flowers recently. Isn't he sweet?! :) Sometimes a girl just needs to be surrounded by beautiful flowers! So the bouquets have been around the house for a few days and some of the flowers were looking a little less than fresh. What I normally do is deconstruct the bouquet and save the good flowers and re-distribute them using vases and an assortment of glassware.

Triple Layered Necklace Centerpiece.

Here's a simple outfit made a little more fun by adding layers of necklaces:

Flower in hair by Mother Earth

Teal Cardigan by H&M

Navy Blue Tank by H&M

Basic Black Mini Cords by Mango

I love that each one of these necklaces was given to me by a different person. My friend Erica Bowman made the top two stranded blue and turquoise necklace for my birthday one year. She is mega talented! I love seeing what she's going to make next. The middle necklace, a gun metal multi-strand beaded piece, is from my mother's giveaway pile. And the bottom portion is actually two long strands that I've looped around a couple of times to give it that plentiful effect -- that's from my grandmother's collection. She passed away a few years ago and had a crazy amount of jewelry - thanks Grandma!

Manning Up.

Before I start this post let me just say that looking on the last few posts I realized that I guess I'm kind of obsessed with white! White pants, white scarf, white make-up and am currently painting an old desk white (but more of that in a post to come). You can't go wrong with white, it's nice, clean and classic.

So here we go -- Manning Up. I'm a lot handier than people give me credit for. Honestly, I act like a damsel in distress about half the time because I know I can get someone else to do it. Manipulative - I know, I know - but hey - it works! But recently I've discovered that I actually like to do manual labor. I find it to be very therapeutic and relaxing.

Yesterday I took in my dilapidated screen to Orchard Supply Hardware (O.S.H.) in hopes of getting an instant replacement. But alas! OSH does not carry pre-made screens. Oh no, no, no! They sell kits so you so you can make it yourself. YIKES! What was I to do?! I did my best attempt to be a pathetic girly girl so that I could have one of the employees build it for me. Sadly, it did not work. :( However, one gentleman did go above and beyond helping me - so I got as much out of it as I could but still had to build a screen all by myself.

Easy as 1-2-3 - ha! Yeah right.

Assemble all the materials.

Measure the length of the sides of the old screen.

Breaking out the hacksaw -- feeling dangerous!

Feeling cornered... (lame joke, I know :P)

Add corners to perfectly hacksawed metal sides...

Assemble all the sides together and...

Ta Da! A well shaped window screen frame. Yay me!

Time to add the metal thingamabobber boos to one side of the frame to ensure a snug fit.

Actually I forgot to put this in first so I had to take apart the frame with the help of some dude walking by. He felt really bad for me. I made sure to sound extra pathetic and weak ;)

Screen time! Put the screen over entire frame with 2 inches to spare on all sides. Place rubber string thinger in place...

...using this fine tool that the OSH team let me use to make things easier for lil ole me. ;)

Pale Colored Eyeliner.

Last night, 'til the wee hours of the morn, you were:

D) re-organizing your already fabu closet

Off-White Flat Macrame Shoes.

It's spring break and you're packing light - meaning only 1-2 pairs of shoes. *gasp* Quick, what do you pack?!

I recommend these stylin' white flat macrame shoes I bought at H&M last week for only $14.99. What a steal! So far I've worn them with a royal blue maxi skirt, a short lacy white dress, basic jeans, and white pants. They really do go with everything spring!

Although I can't find a link to the exact H&M shoes (damn you H&M for not selling your products on your site!), I found similar white macrame shoes at Kmart.

Spring Scarf.

Hurrah! Spring has finally arrived in the Bay Area.

Although it's deceptively sunny, there's still a chill in the air this time of year. I'm all for the light spring scarf to help keep warm while looking super stylin'. But instead of buying more scarves I decided that I need to look at what I currently have in my closet and try to make it work. So here's my tip to you - grab your summer sarong, whether it be plain or printed, and wrap it around your neck. Voila! A light fabric that'll keep you warm enough.

White Pants.

I've been totally waiting to wear white pants for the past two weeks and instead of the weather warming up - it decided to do quite the opposite! We're expecting snow in the Bay Area which is unheard of! To go with the flow, I've decided that my need for white pants is now inspired by the white crisp snow that we'll be seeing this weekend. The Long Dress.

A long fitted dress may seem reserved but a lot of times it's more revealing and sexy than anything showing skin. This style is inspired by my recent viewing of the 90's movie, The Mask, starring Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz. Cameron Diaz blows us away when she first appears in the movie and a long fitted Vavavoom red dress. She continues to wear long fitted dresses throughout the movie, showing off her amazing body. This, of course, was before she got Hollywood skinny. I personally love her body at this point of her career.
