One... Two... Three

At this point, adrenaline is not just running through my veins, it has fully replaced my blood. I've been working like a mad woman on actualizing a passion project these past few weeks so I thought I would take a nice vacation. Ahhhhh... wouldn't that be fantastic if I had time for that? In the meantime, I've decided to try an emulate relaxation mode by sporting this dress I picked up in Bali. A nice breezy light cotton dress makes for a good pretend mental vacay.

PS - I'm all island out - my bracelet is from Boracay, Philippines.
Oh yeah, it's a true vacay outfit now, homies.

Date night with the hubby - sexy time, oh yeah! Ew, TMI, Marie. TMI.  For a split second I wanted to get all dolled up and go to the gorgeous Meritage at the Claremont in Oakland. A couple of hours beforehand, I realized I wasn't in the mood to play dress up. All I wanted to do was be with Mikie and talk, laugh and just hang at a casual romantic restaurant. And that's exactly what we did, my friends. It had been too long since we had a solid block of time, and so we exchanged stories, food and kisses.
I love that man so much.
Romance is alive and kickin.

Event hopping calls for layers.
This is where all my Man Repeller stalking comes in handy - Leandra is a layerin whiz! Of course, my layering skills are much more conservative and tamer that hers, at least this time around.
Walking around in the cold going from place to place, I started soff fully loaded (uh, not that kind of loaded - that comes later in the evening ;) ). Layers are all ON. I always view my outfit in its layered stages since once  I'm at the events, and consume a couple glasses of Proseco, I slowly peel off each layer. Cue stripper music. Not!

Jacket not pictured. D'oh.
Ya know my long kimono hot pink vintage jacket? Imagine that over le outfit.
Now, good job using your imagination, kiddies :)

LFW's Casual Angel.

This lil fashion angel from London Fashion Week is such a lovely sight! She's the reason why I wore what I did this very day. When inspiration hits me, it's not necessarily my goal to try and recreate a replica of the outfit that sparked the epiphany, but moreso, to try and embrace the moment of AHA!ness and make it work with my current mood, energy and clothes.

Here's my take:

Fixated.

Not sure if this happens to anyone else, but there are times when I'm so excited about a a new purchase  that I stubbornly decide I'm going to wear it no matter what. Like this morning, for example, even though I had tried to style this awesomacular dusty pink tissue thin very loose (think tent!) top in about 20 different ways that didn't work, I didn't want to back down from the challenge. Instead, I turned into this crazy obsessed mad woman who was fixated on wearing it and spent Oooo let's say a good 30 minutes rummaging through a crapload of clothes.
Why I do this to myself, I just don't know. I guess it's just part of my charm or something. Ha!

Oh, and of course, after spending quality time with my closet this am, I thought about a million and a half other ways to style it while going about my day. It's kind of like, when you're in a situation, and you don't know what to say, but afterwards think of all the best comebacks.
Damn you brain! Why must you fail me?!

Well anyhoo, here's the winner of this mornings clothing battle as seen at the
Concord Farmers Market / Michael Jackson Tribute Band concert:
(and yes, the tribute band was totally amaze-a-balls!)

Mama and her favorite flower, Daisy.

Bold Mother Earth.

Today I felt connected with the earth in a most empowering way.

I went through a very difficult personal situation last weekend and wept for days, felt like there was no tomorrow, and was utterly completely devastated. The world was muffled in both the visual and audio sense.  It was hard to see any light at the end of the long dark tunnel...

Until today.

Don't know what it is about this particular day, but all of a sudden things started getting better. A true smile found its way to my face. I felt the need to pay my respects to mother earth while grasping the bold happiness that I was finally able to feel again.
And so I let my outfit speak my truth on this fine day...

PS - The colors are totally muted on these pictures for some reason but appear bright and bold when viewed through iPhoto.  Anyone got a clue as to why?

My dance tribute to the gloriousness that is this day! :)

Back To School.

I've been out of school for a few years now but I think I've been missing that feeling a tiddly bitty-o this fall. The smell of freshman blood, the crispness of untouched notebooks, the computer-strained eyes, the need to purchase new clothes...
Ah yes, those were the days!

To commemorate this feeling, I found myself pulling out a short pleated skirt, a thin long sleeve sweater and of course a nice little blazer to complete the Catholic School Girl look. I pranced around in this attire with my daughter and husband at Pier 39 in San Francisco, as all the kiddies were back hitting the books.
Ha!
I guess it DOES pay to be an adult sometimes.

Holey Sweater + Hot Pink Tank + Mid-Length Pinstriped Shorts

These shots don't do the outfit justice. Wah, freakin, wah. Hubby wasn't around to bang, bang (not in that way!) me, so this is what we're working with.

Today I had a shoot for the awesome new online fashion video site, Joyus
I had a couple of dresses planned but then decided to go the fun casual route. They're gonna dress me up in their clothes anyhoo, might as well wear whatever I want :) Little did I know that they ended up letting me use my top as I showcased three pairs of ah-mazing jeans! I've been told that the video will officially be up and running this coming Monday.

Stay tuned!
